Read a few things about a May reveal for Black Ops 2, would make sense. Also a video on the website, and knowing that they never add new content like this to existing games, it points to the next one.

I saw that video on HARDOCP first. Then I went to the website and saw it there as well. It appears that they are including this deathcopter as a item.

I get the BO2 image and stuff, I was referring to the fact that they are primping a new game before they release anything for the old game. I dunno the whole thing feels inconsiderate and greedy.

This was also on the front page at HARDOCP:

Yeah, if they're giving us a peek into the new version of the game instead of map packs, forget it. I'm done with COD. I haven't played it in a while now since I've been playing BF3, and I must admit that I haven't missed it. BF3 has its issues too, but at least they realize that their PC user base is valid.

Things like this freak me out. Future warfare is going to involve robots, including stuff like this and UAVs. What's scary is that the cost will keep coming down, meaning the scale of deployment can go up. An example might be:

A truck that operates both as a transport and base is filled with say 100 of these things. This is somewhat important as the range/ammo is fairly low per unit. The mobility of the truck allows the units to be deployed within range. Add in swarm AI plus ammo refueling capabilities with the truck holding say 10k rounds. So there's 11k rounds, maybe an order of magnitude more, that can be deployed anywhere with no human cost on the attackers side and relatively low cost (compared to a soldier). Take away the limit of having one human controller per bot (don't care about casualties, have sophisticated image recognition) and the amount of close range mobile firepower per dollar is pretty nuts. Modifying them to drop grenades or have attached C4 as the video mentions are other obvious uses. Also tacos.

I'm also inclined to believe that warfare will evolve into this type of weapon. Ghost makes great points which are about cost and efficiency. If the thing carried light weight bullets and they were of a smaller caliber it would work. It really depends on how powerful those blades are.

Terminator, here we come. I do admire the Oedipus similarity to this future.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 has been confirmed as the next Call of Duty game. While the title has been long-rumored and hinted at

by several leaks and rumors, an image of a Target pre-order card sent in by IGN reader Richard has confirmed the game's title and release date.




As shown on the card, the game hits stores on November 13, 2012 and will be headed to at least PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Black Ops 2 will be formally announced on May 1st during the NBA playoffs.
