Soooo they added spectating and bot matches as 'new' features lololo. Maybe one day it will have everything UT has and restore gaming back to it's 2004 goodness.
Wager mode looks awesome! Seriously great idea. Hopefully you can do team wager, so we can gloat about all the money we made after stomping their faces in.
Can't wait. So ready to retire all the lameness that is MW2.

Seems as if Gameservers is the only provider that will be offering dedis. Their servers are cheap ($14.95 for 18 player ranked or $0.99 per slot unranked) but also of lesser quality. I guess it's better than IWNET, but still not as good as it could be.
Also player limits are 18 for ranked and 24 for unranked. This is a good thing, in my opinion, as 32 or 64 player servers turn into a big clusterfuck. One thing I did like from IWNET was the 6v6 matches, as it both emphasized teamwork and individual ability. With the 32 or 64 man stuff half the team can be doing nothing and it doesn't matter. 18 or 24 will be better for sure.
Any of you plan on getting a server? Or perhaps you will contract with a game server specialist, such as Hirschigrad06?

Good points all, and I agree with server size. I was thinking about reserving a server this weekend... They say it will be rolled out on release day. I don't know whether it should be ranked or not. And what about game type? Domination is great, of course. I've admin'd a WAW server before, so I think I could get it up and running pretty quickly without the aid of a server specialist.badasp wrote:Seems as if Gameservers is the only provider that will be offering dedis. I think we all like Domination so that will be a popular choice. As far as ranked or unranked goes, if it's like BC2 then only ranked servers will count towards unlocks and character progression. Everyone at some point wants to level their character(s) so there will always be a desire to do ranked. When the mod tools are released and new content comes out, then perhaps the premium price of unranked will be worth it. Ranked, however, will likely prevent admins from limiting certain things. So if you wanted a no noob-tube server then it probably will have to be unranked. Personally I don't think its worth losing the ranked progression, but to each his own.CTC-JimRimya wrote:Good points all, and I agree with server size. Have you thought about server location? With a community so many times larger than UT or anything else, you can literally put a server anywhere and people will come. Since we're all west coast, having it in LA may be a good idea. With BC2, it seems that most people flock to servers that are at the top of the list (i.e., have the lowest ping). With a server in the middle of the U.S. (e.g., Dallas) you'll get a decent ping for everyone but certainly not the lowest.

I suggest an European server. Will feel just like MW2, the way we like our COD.badasp wrote:I think we all like Domination so that will be a popular choice. Also, if you want some DLC, send $15 to my paypal account. Got some nice maps for you from COD2.

Yeah, gameservers.com has a datacenter in moscow. That should work well.Deathstrike wrote: I suggest an European server. Will feel just like MW2, the way we like our COD.

Here are some confirmed gameplay changes:

I'm not sure if I would call all these changes "improvements" as the OP does; I know for sure I will miss the shotgun secondary and others will miss the unlimited sprint perk as well. There are some nice things there, though. The weakening of explosives (e.g., no danger close and no ammo regen via scavenger) is case in point. What do you all think?1) Marathon no longer provides unlimited sprint and Commando is removed. We won't be seeing any M/L/C heroes in Black Ops.
2) Stopping Power is removed, Juggernaut didn't make a comeback. In my opinion this will balance the game a lot, since you won't feel forced to use any of those cheesy perks.
3) One Man Army is removed, so is Danger Close. That means the most annoying class in MW2 is gone for good.
4) Overpowered secondaries such as Shotguns and Machine Pistols are now primary weapons.
5) Killstreaks no longer accumulate kills and they won't be as powerful as they were in MW2. For example, it shouldn't be possible to camp your way to the Harrier, which will get you the Pave-Low, which will get you the Chopper Gunner and win the game for you. Since only handguns or launchers can be used as secondaries, I predict a lot more people shooting down air support.
6) Explosives seem to be weaker in general, due to the lack of Danger Close and due to the introduction of Flak Jacket. Also the Scavenger perk no longer replenishes noobtubes or claymores.
7) Deathstreaks are finally removed!
8 ) Weapons seem to have more recoil in general compared to MW2 and they haven't added any weapons similar to the ACR laser gun so far.
9) Even though the Last Stand perk wasn't removed it won't be as powerful, since it no longer provides invincibility when falling to the ground and you can no longer use Akimbo M93 Rafficas to destroy people while bleeding to death.
10) The Tactical Nuke killstreak is removed, one less reason for people to boost.
11) New original killstreaks, weapon attachments and equipment such as the RC XD, Flamethrower and Camera Spike.
12) The new currency system gives you the freedom to unlock your weapons, perks and killstreaks in the order you prefer to, instead of having to reach the required level.
13) You can use face paint to customize your character's looks. Also perks in Slot 1 will effect how your character looks.
14) You will be able customize your gear by etching your clan tag on the back of your gun, shape your sight and even change the color of the sight. You can do the same with your emblem.
15) Combat Training mode and Theater mode have been added, also you will be able to report players who are cheating/boosting.
So far it seems that Treyarch is actually listening to the community and tries to improve the game, so thumbs up for that!

They all sound pretty good to me. I especially like #3 and #10. I also like that the "scavenger perk no longer replenishes noobtubes or claymores".
