Re: 64 bit
I'm pretty sure it will run in 32 bit emulation mode, but I doubt that epic made a 64 bit version.

Ok, thanks Jim. It's just that along with a new MOBO/CPU upgrade, I've had a slight consideration of getting Vista 64 Just to kind of future proof my setup.CTC-JimRimya wrote:I'm pretty sure it will run in 32 bit emulation mode, but I doubt that epic made a 64 bit version.

Do what I do, dual boot. Many power users are doing that now. They dual boot between Vista or Linux and XP. The emulation mode in the 64 bit OS works well on somethings and not others. I think for now you will find that running most of your 32 bit programs on a 32 bit OS and running your 64 bit programs on a 64 bit OS will give you good stability.

Is there any good software to help ease this. I have xp on one hard drive, and vista on another. But to change OS'es, I have to go into BIOS.CTC-Darth wrote:Do what I do, dual boot. Dual booting from the same hard drive is really the easiest. If you install XP first and make 2 partitions and then install XP and later Vista, you dont need any special software at all. There are a number of good tutorials on the net and you will not have any problem finding it with google. If on the other hand you want to switch between 2 hard drives then you need a hard drive switch. When you turn on your computer you will turn the switch to whichever hard drive you want to boot from. I don't recommend that though. I dual boot from the same hard drive because its easier and I can still access files from the other OS. Say for instance you have booted to Vista and now you want to drag a file over to your XP. Just drag and drop it.

Re: 64 bit
vista 64-bit has 2 sets of program folders a normal one and a (x86) one... anything that is programed for 32-bit will be placed in the later and should run just fine ...
im on vista ultimate 64bit and i havent had any problems with 32bit apps

Thats cool, but I have a number of apps that only want to work on XP, although I am sure they would work fine on 64 bit XP and its more of a Vista compatibility issue.

That's good to know. I appreciate the 411 LP. Also Thank you Jim and DarthLazy.Pirate wrote:vista 64-bit has 2 sets of program folders a normal one and a (x86) one... anything that is programed for 32-bit will be placed in the later and should run just fine ...

LOL! Yeah, the requirements for the avatar are pretty finicky. The pixel count and memory used are too low. The one I'm using now is generic here on the site. Jim made a bunch for us.«ßîc»EJ` wrote:@ Bean, you change you avatar and sig alot!!!
