I know a number of you have decided to pick up the game now that its 50% percent off so now you can benifit somewhat from the stumbling through the process I have been through:

For converting your image files to the required icon.dds/sticker.tga(once trial ends, you can still use if slightly less conveniant):

Ive found .PNG files to work best for the conversion.

For animated avitars you must use the .bnk format which can be made somewhat easily using Rad tools:

I have big issues with Trackmania. I guess it has compatibility issues with Saitek keyboards. It also has issues with the G5 mouse.

I am using both...I never could get the game to run. Couldn't even create my sign on. $20 to hell...

If you have an XBOX already, you can buy the PC receiver for ~$10 I think. Makes a huge difference in Grid for me.

Installing Trackmania Forever through Steam

This post is incase you've never used Steam, and are trying to get Trackmania up and running for the frst time. When you start up Steam, you should have a window that looks something like the picture below. Now, in the search box... type in "Trackmania" and hit enter (not Trackmania United).



In the next window, there are a list of files to choose from. Click on the one I have circled. The playable files have a mouse icon to the right.



Now, this last window will look a tad different. I already have the game, so there's a box that says "Plag Game". If you don't have the game installed, it should say "Download"... or something like that. If there are any problems, please post.
