I was lucky on that high score - closest I came after that was about 800.

Hint:
the up and down arrows move the cannon and there's a power meter. All I did was move the cannon all the way up and waited till meter was close to 0.
For the big one I moved the cannon close to ground and waited till bar was full...I was lucky after launch to hit like 2 big explosion things in a row and a few thereafter. Luck luck luck
