Didn't really look like a fit at first impression. Although if I read that correctly - they are just saying it won't happen right away as the rumor suggested. From a marketing point of view - it's good for the fuel.

I could see how Google could use Steam. I just reinstalled my Orange box (as well as all the other previous titles I've purchased form Valve), and steam just keeps getting better and better. I remember once when it was full of problems. It doesn't seem to be now.

Chrome flopped for Google with their EULA. Someone at management on Google is doing things wrong. Other than that yeah developers at Google are usually top notch.
