If you did not see this fight then you missed one of the all time greats...
My Lord...what a finish! There is a reason that Silva has won 12 straight title defenses and Sonnen should have remembered those reasons.

Sonnen dominated Silva in a way that I never thought I'd ever see. Sonnen took him down and did almost everything he said he would do. His biggest mistake was listening to his corner when they said "5 more minute champ!". Then he relaxed. Against Anderson you can't relax at all and he paid the price.
Anderson is a freakin beast and that Triangle was a thing of beauty. I just hope he learns from this and works on his take-down defense. Even with Sonnen riding him the entire fight, Anderson did far more damage then Sonnen did. It was a clinic of how to deal damage off your back.

Damn I gotta see this. Anderson's my boy; proving that tall skinny guys can wreck shit. Great attitude too, a true warrior.
I did see the post fight where Sonnen kept crying about his broken heart. Silva didn't have a scratch on his face, which is pretty amazing for someone who was supposedly getting pounded as bad as I've heard.

Hell yes it was...!!!
I kept telling my friend that I was amazed on how he was getting handled by Sonnen. Stnding up, Sonnen was no match for him and would have made it out of the first round. His ground control was incredible especially against a Black Belt in Jui Jitsu.
One error against a phenomenal fighter cost him the win of a lifetime...the crowd went bananas wehn it happened. I got teary eyed...what a champion.
And two great warrioirs.
And remember...I don't even like MMA. (normally)

ya i was suprised too on sonnen controling the ground game
and even getting silva on the ground for 4 rounds was a shocker... but to me silva had a off day
he usually controls the fights , im having arguments with friends about sonnens 1 time tap ( was it a tap out )
and friends saying the fight looked fixed cause silva got booed last 3 fights cause hes boring to watch for a champion

He tapped. Sonnen even said he tapped and he lost the fight.
The fact that Anderson came into the fight with a rib injury makes the comeback even more impressive. I love Anderson as a fighter, but unless he really works on his wrestling his winning streak won't last too much longer. Sonnen showed everyone the blueprint to beat Silva.
If the rumors are true that Anderson wants to move to 205 full time, Sonnen has a chance to rule that weight class for a long time to come.

I want to say something that may shock you...Sonnen is not that good. Really he isn't.
As a comparitive to some of the guy Anderson has gone through over the past four years I am not seeing him cracking the top ten. He was definitely in a zone with his ground control and I commend him on that. But he was getting tagged on his feet.
Silva looked like he was sick or something (no excuses)...he just looked horrible. I knew something was wrong when he got popped three consecutive times by Sonnen in the first round and did not respond to it.
That was an excellent battle...and no one would be so brilliant as to script that. And no champion would stand there and get their ass whipped for five rounds and end it with a triangle while on the bottom.
Great fight...I would like to Machido fight Sonnen. Hmmmmmm...
