First time I've heard of Apocalyptica, great stuff. Notes get so high towards the end... is that still a cello or are they playing a violin at that point?
.....
on that note (no pun) cover of paranoid android on strings:

The band is basically 3/4 cellos, they added drums in their later albums. They mostly do heavy metal music but they have slower songs.

If you like cello, I recommend the composer Prokofiev. His cello and violin sonatas are some of my favorite string pieces.

I haven't heard much of Prokofiev's cello works. I'll try paying closer attention to his stuff.
I'm a big fan of Chopin and Rachmaninoff's piano/cello sonatas:

Also, I've had that Farewell song stuck on my head all day at work.

Op 50/91 are interesting. His first violin concerto is one of my favorites.
That's a nice find Ghosted... I realized that I have some story-telling type playful pieces by Prokofiev called Pierre et le Loup op 67. It's very relaxing since it was played in like every cartoon when I was a kid. Going back to Scriabin, ever heard etude opus 8 no 12? I'm guessing yeah but anyway it's worth sharing:
Your posts always strike up intrest in the forum v0id. Definitely good stuff. I was a little ignorant as far as the violin family goes. Found out there's the violin, viola, cello, doublebass, and the very rare triple contrabass viol and the octobass. The octobass is about 3.5 meters tall. Instead of using the fingerboard, notes are played with levers that press the strings. While I found it interesting, it didn't do much for me musically. My favorite sound would be the cello.

Stumbled across this one. Sounds cool, but it gets cut off half way through

I remember cruising down the florida turnpike with my windows rolled down while listening to his stuff. Nothing compares to that.
