Public server tickrate increased

This morning I increased the tickrate on the public server. I think the true test is when the server is full or nearly full, so I'd like your input on how it feels now once it fills up later today and this weekend. Post any feedback here and I'll adjust the tickrate if necessary.

Also, if anybody has any other input on how to calculate the best tickrate, please post here or send me a PM.

For the record, the previous tickrate was 35 and I upped it to 70.

I would try a smaller change, 35 to 70 is pretty big. Most larger player count pubs I have seen have issues with high tick rates. Maybe try 45 first and move up from there.

Good point, vivr. I wanted to try a drastic change and then move down from there... But, it seems that a tickrate of 70 is not good for servers with more than 10 to 12 slots. I'll set it to 45 here in a second. And thanks for the link.

I have the meh server set at 78 and seems to be running well for vctf matches, havent had any complaints anyways. It is also a NFO dallas.

just keep this in mind guys, the server is Linux based, hence you can increase the tick rate up to 60 and it won't give you any problems.

Ah it's the public server, well if the server is windows based Jim, I wouldn't recommend going higher than 50.
